Subject: Privacy and the internet
At the beginning, Internet was created to protect the Americans files from the Soviets during the Cold War. In the 1990’s Internet has known an important growth and the users became more and more numerous until becoming what we know today. Each of us is filed a hundred of times and this situation seems to be accepted by the all Internet users with fate. There are some justifications like the fight against fraud tax, hacking and terrorism. People tend to say that it is very useful, that you can be connected with people all over the world, do “what you want”. But, do they know really the risk for their privacy?

When I see this picture, it reminds me that when we use the computer and more precisly the Internet, people can enter into our privacy.
1)She discovered that a 21-year-old woman in Belgium had stolen her identity on Facebook.
She had set up an email and Facebook account in her name, grabbed 2,000 pictures from the net, doctored some of them and conned Carolyn's friends and family into becoming her "friend".
The fake Carolyn used pictures and details of the real one.
Caroln Owlett musn't have posted photos of her son and her life.
2)The results are Links on people I was fan of on Facebook. I already knew it because I have already searched about it once.
3)To protect ourselves on the Internet: We shouldn't post personal photos, we should use nicknames instead of real names, we shouldn't show our birthday, our adress, we should keep our password secret, we should use anti-spyware tools.
4)Photos posted on the Internet give information about the date you took it, at what time you took it and give information about your identity.
5)Employers can use social networks such as facebook to know more about their employees or people who apply for a job since parts of privacy are shown.

ReplyDelete=> the man looks like a rat which appears from an unwaited place. He seems to be nervous, anxious, scared. he glares around him.
Questions:
1)She discovered that a young woman has stolen her identity on facebook.
The fake carolyn had set up an email and Facebook account in her name, grabbed 2,000 pictures from the net, doctored some of them and conned Carolyn's friends and family into becoming her "friend".
I wonder wether one of her friend talks with her about a new activities on hre false facebook wall. I'm not sure that she could avoid the situation.
2) I'm not affraid about everything you can find if you put my name in google. I have already try, you can only find my facebook page (nevertheless just my friend could see what I put on my wall)
3) according to the web site, there are 8 solutions: not to publish personal photos, not to use your real name, not to give your adress or your birthday day, cancel your credits report, keep your password, use image instead of letter adress, and at last, use an antispyware.
4)when somebody takes pictures you could know about locationtape, datetape, and towntape ( thanks to the GPS).
5) Most of people don't know their limit, so on their social network they mixe private and profesional life. some employers use social network like an add to the resume. and in the other side employees could use it like a shearch about the company they are applying for.

ReplyDeleteThis picture is really representative of the lack of privacy on the net. And the fact that we can't see it because it is hidden in our computer.
1.A woman in Belgium had stolen Carolyn Owlett's identity by putting an email and an Facebook account on the net. She pretend to be her and add Carolyn's friends and family and also put pictures. To avoid that Carolyn should have be careful of her information given on the net becasue of being a star. Moreover she could have contact the police.
2.When I tape my name on google I saw my account Facebook but also account that I had before like hi5. I also saw the name of the city where I live and some members of my family. I didn't know all that.
3. To protect ourselves on the net we shouldn't put photos or family's photos , you're better choose nicknames , to avoid putting your address , to keep your password , to be alert of identity theft , to use firefox and other anti spam , and to have your email address online.
4. The information given by a picture are : the date , the time , the location and even the identity.
5. Social networks influence professional life because people don't make the difference between privacy life and public life. Employers can have an access of what we post on the net and maybe have a bad impression of ourselves. They considered that what is accessible is acceptable. Teenagers don't realize that internet can robb their privacy and have impacts on their future professional life.
